Blackface is the act of disguising a Caucasian person as a non-white person, usually of African descent, for theatrical or entertainment purposes. This is usually seen as offensive to people of African descent in various modern-day cultures, regardless of whether the portrayal was purposely intended to be offensive or not.

In the Left Behind series, Gustaf Zuckermandel, Jr. disguised Mac McCullum as a Global Community officer by darkening his skin with makeup to make him appear of African descent in order to infiltrate Jerusalem during the time of the Battle of Armageddon to find Buck Williams. Little mention was made of this due to the events surrounding the battle except for Rayford Steele noticing that Mac had his skin darkened.
