Jacob is the son of Isaac and the grandson of Abraham, the legendary father of faith for Christians, Jews, and Muslims (heretical). Jacob was the father of the twelve patriarchs of the twelve tribes of Israel, with Joseph being his favorite son. He was known for getting his brother Esau to sell his birthright for a bowl of stew, and then later tricked his father Isaac into giving him the firstborn blessing intended for Esau, fulfilling what God told his mother Rebekah that "the older shall serve the younger". However, he got welched by his uncle Laban when he served him as a shepherd seven years for his younger daughter Rachel, only to get the older daughter Leah instead as his first wife. Jacob did get his comeuppance against his uncle when he through God's help bred spotted, speckled, and streaked goats from Laban's herds as payment for his services to his uncle. God changed his name to Israel when Jacob wrestled with the angel of the Lord at night until the angel touched Jacob's hip and gave him a limp. Jacob was one of the Old Testament saints that was rewarded by Jesus Christ after His Second Coming in the book Glorious Appearing.
