leftbehind

Ptah (Coptic: ⲡⲧⲁϩ) was a pagan deity worshiped in antiquity by the people who lived in Egypt, which Tsion Ben-Judah claims to mean "temple of the soul of Ptah".

Since Hebrew is the universal language in the Millennial Kingdom, and Egypt's name in Hebrew is Misrayim, it is unclear what Tsion Ben-Judah was referring to. During the Tribulation, Egyptians would refer to their country as Masr or Misr, depending on how the Arabic romanization of مَصر is rendered.

In Kingdom Come during the Millennial Kingdom, Ben-Judah rebuked the Parliament of Egypt for their continued use of the name Egypt, honoring Ptah instead of Jehovah (God), and commanded them to change the name of their country to Osaze. Since Egypt is the name which the Greeks gave to Misrayim/Masr/Misr, and has never been used by the Egyptians themselves, it is unclear how Ben-Judah could accuse them of using a name with Ptah in it. Furthermore, Egyptians have not worshiped Ptah as a deity since the days of the Roman Empire. Egyptian polytheism was officially outlawed in AD 383, and Egyptian was a Christian nation until its conquest by Muslims in the 7th century. Since then, Egypt has been a Muslim nation with a significant Christian minority. Ben-Judah's rhetorical argument in the novel overlooks this significant history.

Real mythology

Ptah was a self-created or un-created deity from the old Egyptian mythology, and god of craftsmen and architects, who is also a demiurge or creator deity which brought him in conflict with Jehovah (God), who is the sole sovereign deity within the Left Behind series.

He was also only one the several creator deities of Egyptian mythology/religion, alongside Amun, Atum and Ra, who were often seen as the chief deities. The Greeks compared him to Hephaestus, the god of the forge, followed by the Romans who compared him to Vulcan.

At least one faction within Egypt worshiped Ptah not only as the creator deity, but also as the creator of deities, according to the Shabaka Stone archeological find. Since The Other Light never mentions Ptah, only Lucifer, it is reasonable to guess that they did not revive this tradition.
